Installation of the products

MOUNTING SURFACE

Ensure that the mounting surface is firm, level and stable, stress-free, clean, dry, free of dust, grease, oil, dirt or separating layers (e.g., wallpaper or paint).

Proceed with all necessary preparations on the wall surface, such as cleaning, repairing surface damage, removing loose layers (e.g., wallpaper) and paint or cladding, repairing stucco and making the area smooth.

The mounting surface must be flat and straight and must not have any unevenness of more than 2 mm.

Warning! Plastered walls must be sanded and then dusted before work can be carried out on them. A smooth surface is required for this type of application. It is your responsibility to assess the characteristics and suitability of the mounting surface on site. In case of doubt, consult a professional.

CARE AND CLEANING

Do not use acidic cleaning agents, chemical cleaners, or steel brushes during cleaning, as they may damage the finish.

Use a clean, soft, slightly damp cloth for cleaning.

ADDITIONAL TREATMENT

OLDWOOD DOT products can be bleached, oiled, lacquered, painted, or dyed. For good advice and the desired effect, we recommend that you take a sample piece of product to your OLDWOOD DOT specialist/distributor. The performance/effect of the treatment agent used on the OLDWOOD DOT product is the responsibility of the user and its manufacturer. Before applying treatment to the entire surface, we recommend trying it on a small area first.

Allow at least 24 hours for the mounting adhesive to dry before handling the OLDWOOD DOT product again.

SAFETY AND HEALTH

Read the product's instructions and manuals before using it. Always seek professional advice first if you are unsure. Sawing wood items at high speeds produces dust.

Excessive dust inhalation over a long period of time can result in irreversible health issues. For this reason, safety goggles and a dust mask should be worn.

INSTALLATION

We recommend the use of the OLDWOOD DOT adhesive system included with the product or an adhesive that is suitable for gluing the wood to the mounting surface in question. In the latter case, seek help from a local expert/distributor.

Before installing the products, check with a spirit level whether the installation location is straight. Apply a vertical limit on the wall using a wooden strip or metal profile to accomplish this.

Always check the products before handling them. First lay a few panels (e.g., 3-5 m2) close to the working area without removing the adhesive tape.

This will help you determine the proper layout and ensure that the installation is completed more quickly.

Measurement corrections are easily made using a fine-toothed hand or electric saw.

Remove the tape covering the adhesive on the back of each piece of wood and place it in its correct place.

Then, press the OLDWOOD DOT panel firmly to get the best adhesion to the mounting surface.

At this point, corrections are no longer possible.

A fine-toothed saw can be used to cut/trim the OLDWOOD DOT pieces to match them to each other. Edges cut lengthwise must be turned around so that they are not visible (downwards if they are below eye level, or upwards if they are at eye level). Avoid any tension on the mounting surface of the OLDWOOD DOT product.
